Body injectables from data to practice: evidence-based analysis and global consensus
Objectives: As global demand for nonsurgical body rejuvenation continues to rise, injectable HA has become one of the most requested procedures in aesthetic medicine. This presentation offers an evidence-based analysis, critical appraisal of the peer-reviewed literature, and first-time presentation of a new, multidisciplinary consensus initiative focused on advancing safety and evidence-based practice.
Introduction: With the expansion of aesthetic medicine beyond the face, body injectables, particularly hyaluronic acid (HA), are gaining momentum worldwide. But with innovation comes the key need for standardized safety protocols, anatomical understanding, and ethical practice.
Materials / method: This presentation offers a critical appraisal of HA body injectables, including a new international, multidisciplinary consensus on gluteal augmentation with HA fillers developed by experts in plastic surgery, anatomy, imaging, injectable safety and product science. The guidelines, grounded in evidence and clinical experience, offer practical, peer-reviewed strategies to optimize procedural safety, efficacy and outcomes.
Results: Attendees will gain insight into:
- Anatomical and vascular considerations for safe body injectables.
- Ideal product properties for body injectables based on treatment objectives.
- Imaging tools and techniques to enhance safety and precision.
- Patient selection, dosing protocols, and complication management.
- Ethical considerations and global regulatory perspectives
Conclusion: This presentation bridges the gap between emerging innovation and clinical responsibility, offering practitioners an evidence-based foundation and multidisciplinary consensus to safely and effectively advance their practice within the anatomically and technically nuanced arena of body injectables.
