K.I.S.S. Lip filler technique - keep injections simple and safe when filling lips
Objectives: The K.I.S.S. method simplifies lip augmentation using blunt cannulas and anatomical landmarks to enhance proportion, contour, and volume while reducing vascular risks. In 20 women (25–45 y), HA was injected retrogradely into defined columns and vectors with minimal bruising or edema. Despite less precision than needles, results were natural and safe with high satisfaction. K.I.S.S. is now the preferred technique for lip fillers due to its safety and pleasant recovery.
Introduction: Lip augmentation remains one of the most requested aesthetic procedures but carries vascular and contour irregularity risks. The K.I.S.S. (Keep It Safe and Simple) technique was developed to enhance proportion, volume, and definition through a reproducible, anatomy-based approach using blunt cannulas. This method prioritizes safety, balance, and natural expression over excessive volumization.
Materials / method: Twenty women aged 25–45 underwent lip augmentation using low–cross-linked hyaluronic acid and 25G blunt cannulas. Product was injected retrogradely along defined columns and vectors, guided by anatomical landmarks. The focus was on projection, contour, and hydration. Patients were evaluated for symmetry, bruising, edema, and satisfaction at 7 and 30 days post-procedure
Results: The K.I.S.S. method yielded natural, balanced results with minimal bruising or swelling. No vascular complications were observed. Although slightly less precise than needle techniques, it offered superior safety and faster recovery. Patient satisfaction was high due to soft texture, proportional lips, and the absence of social downtime. Results remained stable for several months.
Conclusion: The K.I.S.S. technique provides a safe, efficient, and anatomically guided option for lip enhancement. Using cannulas minimizes vascular risks and post-procedure discomfort while maintaining natural aesthetics. Its simplicity and reproducibility make it ideal for routine use in clinical practice, achieving harmonious lips with high safety and patient satisfaction.
