Capryloyl salicylic acid and ethosome nanogolds in the management of melasma
Objectives: Demonstration of numerous cases of melasma successfully treated using capryloyl salicylic acid associated with nanogolds delivered through the ethosomes vehicle and activated with Nd:YAG or picosecond laser technology.
Introduction: Capryloyl salicylic acid, ethosomes, and nanogolds are new substances that have recently been studied and introduced for the treatment of melasma. Currently, understanding the chemistry and benefits of these substances in the management of melasma is fundamental.
Materials / method: 42 patients were treated with capryloyl salicylic acid soap for skin preparation, followed by the application of nanogolds associated with ethosomes, which were subsequently activated with nd:YAG 1064nm laser technologies in microseconds or picoseconds, followed by a new application of high-concentration capryloyl salicylic acid.
Results: All patients experienced moderate to good degrees of rapid whitening with monotherapy. It is important to emphasize that the treatment is completely painless, with an immediate whitening effect and no downtime.
Conclusion: Capryloyl salicylic acid, ethosomes, and gold nanoparticles are new substances recently studied and introduced for the treatment of melasma with a high and rapid degree of effectiveness.
