TAIWAN - Triple layers, triple C shapes, triple devices periorbital rejuvenation
Objectives: 1. To analyze the anatomical factors contributing to tissue laxity across three key structural layers of the periorbital region: the cutaneous layer, subcutaneous fat layer, and the superficial musculoaponeurotic system (SMAS).
2. To evaluate the targeted action of different energy-based devices (EBDs) at distinct tissue depths.
3. To define the three core C-shaped anatomical regions and formulate multi-modality treatment protocols for comprehensive correction.
4. To establish a safe, evidence-based strategy for effective combined therapy regimens for holistic periorbital rejuvenation.
Introduction: As highlighted in Alfred’s research, the periorbital region is the most visually attracting facial area. Characterized by the thinnest facial cutaneous tissue, minimal subcutaneous fat, and continuous dynamic activity of the orbicularis oculi muscle, periorbital bony absorption as aging proceed, the periorbital complex is susceptible to early aging manifestations.
Common clinical aging concerns include brow ptosis, upper and lower eyelid ptosis and laxity, tear trough deformity, fine lines, dynamic and static wrinkles, and eye bags. These changes compromise facial overall youthful aesthetics.
Materials / method: Periorbital aging arises from progressive laxity and structural defect across multi-layered tissues, including the skin, subcutaneous fat, SMAS, retaining ligaments, and periorbital musculature and bony structure. Additionally, aging changes in adjacent facial subunits—such as the forehead and temporal region—exert secondary pulling and gravitational effects that exacerbate periorbital tissue ptosis and laxity.
Given the multi-layered and multi-regional nature of periorbital aging, a systematic triple-layer targeted strategy has become a core principle in modern clinical aesthetic practice.
Results: This presentation elaborates on a synergistic multi-device combination regimen tailored for periorbital rejuvenation, integrating three mainstream energy-based technologies with different therapeutic depths and mechanisms. Monopolar Radiofrequency (RF) is applied for dermal and subcutaneous tissue contraction and tightening. High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU) delivers focused thermal energy to the SMAS layer, achieving deep structural lifting. Synchronous Ultrasound Parallel Beam (SUPERB™) acts on the superficial cutaneous layer to refine skin texture, reduce fine lines.
Conclusion: The synergistic integration of three targeted energy-based devices enables precise intervention targeting the triple-layer tissue structure and triple C-shaped key regions. This multi-modality approach comprehensively addresses full-thickness periorbital aging defects, rather than improving isolated symptoms.
This session aims to provide clinicians with a practical, and personalized treatment framework for combined periorbital rejuvenation. The protocol maximizes clinical tightening and lifting efficacy while strictly ensuring treatment safety, and long-term patient satisfaction.
