Biostimulator and hyaluronic acid for synergistic skin quality enhancement
Objectives: 1, Understand the four “pillars” that define skin quality.
2, Comprehend the synergistic mechanisms of biostimulators and hyaluronic acid (HA), and how their complementary effects improve skin.
3, Propose evidence-based, personalized treatment protocols based on patient needs and communication for optimal outcomes.
Introduction: Skin rejuvenation is one of the most common aesthetic requests. “Skin quality” is a multidimensional concept underlying a youthful, attractive appearance. There are many minimally invasive options available, but combining modalities (such as biostimulators and HA) may deliver more comprehensive results.
Materials / method: The four pillars of skin quality are defined as:
a. Firmness – elasticity, tautness / tightness, hydration.
b. Tone evenness – pigmentation, erythema / discoloration.
c. Surface evenness – pore size, crepiness, fine lines / wrinkles, acne/scarring.
d. Glow – radiance, luminosity, brightness.
Biostimulators (such as PDLLA / PLLA) work by stimulating new collagen and elastin formation, remodeling dermis over months. HA provides hydration and improves viscoelasticity of the extracellular matrix.
Results: HA skin boosters are best at improving hydration, immediate plump, smoothing fine lines and improving tone and glow.
Biostimulators (PDLLA / PLLA) provide longer term remodeling: increase dermal thickness, improve firmness, regeneration of collagen/elastin.
When used in combination, HA can address surface / hydration fast, while biostimulators sustain deeper structural improvements. Timing/sequencing matter (e.g. HA first or concurrently in some treatment zones, PDLLA in deeper areas or in subsequent sessions).
Conclusion: To achieve smoother, tighter, more radiant (“glowy”) skin, a combined protocol using HA skin boosters plus biostimulators (e.g. PDLLA) offers superior results versus single modality.
Key to success: assess baseline skin quality across the four pillars, identify which pillars are deficient, then tailor the combination (product choice, volume, timing).
Proper injection technique, dilution / reconstitution (for PDLLA), patient communication about expected timeline (immediate vs delayed improvement), and safety monitoring are essential.
