Classification and treatment of square shape face
目标: To evaluate the effectiveness and safety of a standardized mandibular reduction technique based on a new classification system for the treatment of square-shaped faces.
介绍: A square-shaped face is not deemed attractive in Asian countries. Numerous surgical methods, such as splitting corticectomy and mandibular angle ostectomy, have been developed and documented for lower face reduction. Several surgeons have used one of the above techniques to perform the operation in the angle region, which might not produce the desired outcome. The standard surgical procedures are covered in this report.
材料 / 方法: For 162 patients with square faces, appropriate preoperative analysis and design were used in order to address the shortcomings of traditional methods and perform ostectomy accu-rately. For the reduction of the lower face, long curved ostectomy in conjunction with splitting corticectomy was utilized, which was based on a new classification scheme and mandible reduction concepts. In the course of the operation. a number of standard procedures were created.
结果: Most patients felt good about how they looked from the front and the side. Effective increases were made to the mandibular plane angle and the gonial angle. Maior issues like a fracture or damage to the facial nerve didn't arise. Of the patients, 17% experienced lip numbness.
总结: The series of standard methods develoned by the authors makes it possible for surceons to perform sate accurate and repeatable ostectomy with consistent, long-lasting results.
