Objectives: This presentation aims at comparing different fluences of Q-switched Nd:YAG (Qs
Nd:YAG) laser that can induce an effective response with best safety for melasma patients. The role of dermoscopy in assessing the therapeutic response in cases of melasma will be evaluated.
Introduction: Melasma continues to be a difficult to treat disease with no fully satisfactory results. Low-fluence 1064 nm Q-switched Nd:YAG laser has been shown to be effective for
melasma treatment.
Materials / method: In this presentation the results obtained from treating melasma patients with various fluences of Nd-Yag will be demonstrated.
Results: It is safe to assume that using conservative treatment approaches as lowering the fluence and adjusting sessions’ intervals can help optimize the therapeutic outcome and avoid complications in melasma laser toning.
Conclusion: In our experience, the melasma lesions show improvement of pigmentation in response to Qs Nd:YAG but no clearance.
Strict and continuous sun protection measures are essential for patients with melasma.
