Objectives: The objectives are:
- To present the spicule-mediated peptide delivery system as an effective solution for improving skin texture by enhancing the delivery of active ingredients to deeper skin layers.
- To explore the potential of this innovative approach in addressing skin roughness and promoting overall skin health.
Introduction: Skin roughness is a key concern in dermatology, often caused by an uneven skin surface and insufficient hydration. Traditional topical treatments are limited by the stratum corneum, which restricts the penetration of active ingredients. Spicule-mediated delivery systems offer a novel approach to overcome this barrier, enhancing the absorption of peptides. This study evaluates the efficacy of a unique spicule-mediated delivery of GHK tripeptide and acetyl-hexa-peptide in improving skin texture.
Materials / method: Twenty participants (mean age: 55.2 years) received weekly treatments over five sessions using a spicule-mediated delivery system loaded with peptides. Skin roughness (Ra) was assessed using Antera 3D imaging before and after the treatments.
Results: The spicule-mediated peptide delivery system achieved an 11.98% reduction in skin roughness after five sessions. This improvement is attributed to the increased absorption and targeted action of peptides, which promote collagen synthesis and cellular regeneration. The treatment was well-tolerated, with no adverse events reported.
Conclusion: The spicule-mediated peptide delivery system offers an effective solution for improving skin texture by enhancing the delivery of active ingredients to deeper skin layers. This innovative approach demonstrates significant potential for addressing skin roughness and promoting overall skin health.
