Objectives: The Hemostatic Net has gained traction in Facelift surgery. This lecture aims to introduce the hemostatic net as approach to enhancing skin redraping, achieving hemostasis, and performing minimally invasive brow lifts and gliding lip lifts in facelift surgery based on our experience using the hemostatic net in facial plastic surgery and our publication in the ASJ 2023 DOI: 10.1093/asj/sjad097
Introduction: The concept of hemostatic sutures was first described by Popescu and later introduced by Auersvald in facelift surgery, and by Viterbo for brow lifts. This innovation has significantly contributed to improving surgical outcomes by addressing challenges in achieving hemostasis and facilitating skin redraping in facial surgeries.
Materials / method: This lecture draws upon the experience of six years in private practice where the hemostatic net technique was employed in various facelift procedures. The method involves the strategic placement of hemostatic sutures to not only control bleeding but also aid in the redraping of the skin, providing a minimally invasive approach for brow lifts and gliding lip lifts.
Results: The hemostatic net technique demonstrates versatility and efficacy in enhancing the outcomes of facelift surgeries. Given its proven benefits in improving hemostasis, facilitating skin redraping, and enabling minimally invasive brow and lip lifts, it should be considered a fundamental tool in the armamentarium of every facial plastic surgeon.
