Objectives: To provide an updated review of bioregenerative strategies in hair loss treatment, exploring the biological basis of hair loss and hair aging, examining how emerging therapies are targeting these processes, and evaluating their clinical relevance with potential to shape the future of hair restoration either as alternatives or adjuncts to conventional treatments.
Introduction: Hair loss is a complex, multifactorial condition that significantly impacts quality of life. Although conventional treatments such as minoxidil and finasteride remain first-line options, their limitations in efficacy, potential side effects, the need for continuous use, and lack of a definitive cure have led to growing interest in regenerative medicine. Regenerative therapies focus on restoring or reactivating natural biological processes to support hair regrowth through cellular repair, modulation of signaling pathways, and tissue regeneration.
Materials / method: This review is based on a comprehensive analysis of recent literature, including clinical studies, systematic reviews, and relevant experimental research published over the past 10 years. Both cell-based and cell-derived therapies were included, with a focus on emerging evidence and clinical applicability in androgenetic alopecia and other common hair loss conditions.
Results: Clinical studies show encouraging results with regenerative treatments, especially for conditions like androgenetic alopecia and telogen effluvium. PRP continues to be the most widely used option, with a growing body of evidence supporting its effectiveness. Newer treatments like exosomes and extracellular vesicles are gaining attention for their regenerative potential, though most data are still from early-phase studies. Cell-based therapies are also showing promise, offering the possibility of longer-lasting results with less reliance on daily medications, but they remain under regulatory re
Conclusion: Regenerative therapies offer a breakthrough in modern medicine showing promising resulting in treating hairloss focusing on repairing the root cause of follicular degeneration . As clinical use expands, ongoing research and well-designed trials are essential to establish standardized protocols, safety, and efficacy. The future of hair restoration lies in bioregenerative medicine and advanced cellular therapies, with the potential to deliver more sustainable and individualized solutions for hair loss patients.
