Objectives: This study highlights the benefits of a tailored, multimodal treatment strategy for acne scars. By integrating various techniques targeting different pathological features, the approach offers a comprehensive solution, addressing the limitations of single-modality treatments. The combination therapy provided enhanced results in terms of neocollagenesis, volume restoration, and scar texture improvement.
Introduction: Acne scars present a diverse challenge in dermatological treatment due to their varying types and severities. Traditional single-modality treatments often fail to address all aspects of scar pathology, resulting in suboptimal outcomes. This study aims to evaluate a multimodal approach that combines multiple therapeutic modalities tailored to different scar pathologies to maximize scar improvement and patient satisfaction.
Materials / method: Patients with varying types of acne scars were treated using a combination of four key modalities: (1) Subcision and radiofrequency were employed to release fibrous bands tethering the scars and reduce their depth. (2) Ablative lasers were utilized to break down scar borders and promote dermal remodeling. (3) Microneedling with radiofrequency (RF) was applied to stimulate neocollagenesis and improve skin tightening. (4) Regenerative therapies, including autologous fat transfer and injectable Platelet-Rich Fibrin (PRF), were used to correct volume loss and enhance dermal quality.
Results: Patients were assessed for improvement in scar appearance and satisfaction levels.Preliminary results demonstrate significant improvement in scar appearance, texture, and overall skin quality, with a high patient satisfaction rate. The combined approach effectively addressed both superficial and deeper scar components, resulting in a synergistic enhancement of aesthetic outcomes.
Conclusion: A multimodal approach, combining subcision with radiofrequency, ablative lasers, microneedling RF, and regenerative therapies such as autologous fat transfer and injectable PRF, offers a promising strategy for optimizing acne scar management. This method enhances overall patient satisfaction by effectively targeting the multiple facets of scar pathology.
