Objectives: and psychological consequences. Recently, the growing demand of noninvasive treatment procedures have promoted alternative treatment technologies to standard of care surgical procedures. Radiofrequency (RF) microplasma emits high energy sparks (plasma) which induce controlled epidermal micro-ablation injuries coupled with dermal coagulation. This dual effect promotes both epidermal and dermal remodeling. A novel, focused microplasma single tip was tested as a nonsurgical treatment for upper and lower eyelid skin laxity.
Introduction: To evaluate the clinical improvement and collagen remodeling of upper and lower eyelid dermatochalasis.
Materials / method: Ten patients were subjected with upper and lower eyelid laxity were included in the study. Eyelid dermatochalasis was rated as absent (0), mild (1), mild-moderate (2), moderate (3) severe, significantly severe (0-5) according to the facial laxity rating scale. Patients received a single Radiofrequency (RF) microplasma treatment session. Clinical evaluations was carried out by comparison of photographic images acquired at baseline and 12 weeks following treatment.,. Patients rated their satisfaction, tolerance and down time. Adverse effects were recorded.
Results: Clinical improvement of 2.2 ratings was observed at clinical evaluation. 8/10 were highly satisfied or satisfied. The average downtime was 7.3 days. No severe adverse effects were demonstrated
Conclusion: Focused Radiofrequency (RF) microplasma technology is a safe and effective treatment option with clinically improved appearance of dermatochalasis.
