Latest laser treatment for scar and keloid

Objectives: Ablative laser can be most effective for the treatment of atrophic acne scar but side effects that ranged from PIH, infection and less commonly dimpling had been reported. The use of the wrong parameters can lead to major complication and a case is used to illustrate this point and means to treat such complication.

Objectives: To describe the activity and faculty of SCARS2021

Introduction: After the success of the last international scar treatment conferences, SCARS2021- international scar treatment conference will be held in Berlin, May 2021.This conference is planned to be bigger, more scientific and more international with renown scar experts from US, Europe, Asia and Israel.

Latest laser treatment for scar and keloid - ESLD representative

Objectives: Knowing the different types of atrophic acne scars and hypertrophic scar, possible treatment options. Optimal combination protocol for best outcome.

Introduction: Acne is one of the most common skin diseases seen in dermatological practices all over the world. In colored populations, acne scars and pigmentary sequelae can affect more than 50% of the population.

Several kinds of atrophic acne scars have been noted: rolling scars, boxcar scars, and ice pick scars.

Hypertrophic scars could occurre over whole body area with different etiology such as burn, surgery, trauma etc.

Materials / method: Some deep atrophic acne scars with ice pick type or deep cox car type, or some scars with fibrotic band in deep dermis which exceeding the approachable depth of many fractional laser, would need deep penetration approach of strong precisely targeted fractional CO2 laser.

Another useful modality, the picosecond laser with focus lens can induce new collagen formation and is effective in Asian patients with acne scars, with a high safety profile even in dark skin types, and a high satisfaction rate.

Fractional Co2 laser is useful for hypertrophic scar treatment.

Results: The filler injection is one of the useful modality for atrophic scars. This approach is especially useful in volume loss due to superficial fatty layer destruction.

Subcision is one of the modality to treat atrophic acne scars, which is especially useful in treating rolling scars or deep box-car types scars.

Fractional CO2 laser in combination with laser assisted drug delivery(LAD) would have synergistic effect on the outcome and reduce the downtime.

Conclusion: In this session, I will present the combination of multiple modality , target multiple layers for comprehensive approach to atrophic acne scar treatment. And use lasers and LAD for better outcome of hypertrophic scar treatment.

Latest laser treatment for scar and keloid - ISDS representative

Objectives: Lasers are the most common employed energy based modality in the treatment of Keloids and HS.They come in different types like Ablative Laser,Non Ablative and Fractional Laser.Several studies and clinical trials using these devices giving varying clinical results will be discussed.
However,treatment and management of keloids and HS cannot be accomplished with only one laser device and may need to combine with different laser devices and or other modalities like IL TAC,5 FU,Botulinum Toxin,PDT,IPL,Verapamil,Bleomycin,etc.
Close monitoring and patient compliance should be encouraged to

Latest laser treatment for scar and keloid - DASIL representative

Objectives: The learning outcomes from this lecture is to review some of the newest treatment algorithms and treatment modalities in the management of hypertrophic scars and keloids. This includes Lasers and EBDs and well as Superficial Radiation Therapy.

Introduction: Hypertrophic Scars & Keloids remain one of the most challenging therapeutic conditions we face in our clinical practices. The treatment of these lesions have become better over recent years with newer advances in Lasers & EBDs as well as Superficial Radiation Therapy. Combinations of lasers and EBDs has enhanced our efforts and early intervention has shown increased efficacy in many of these cases. Superficial Radiation Therapy is a newer FDA cleared modality as well for keloids and also will be reviewed in this presentation.

Materials / method: A review of the current treatment recommendations will be described as well as clinical trials showing how we can use combination therapy for these lesions.

Results: Results from the evaluations show that early intervention is the best course, that combination therapy in many instances is worthwhile, and that we can use our devices successfully in treating hypertrophic scars and keloids. We can also successfully use Superficial Radiation Therapy following the surgical removal of these lesions to prevent recurrences in many instances.

Conclusion: Lasers & EBDs as well as Superficial Radiation Therapy can be used successfully to treat hypertrophic scars and keloids.
