Objectives: this talk aims to share valuable lessons and techniques that enhance patient safety and outcomes in the realm of neck surgeries
Introduction: This presentation delineates a personal exploration of managing critical neck complications in surgical necklifts practice, drawing from several high-stakes clinical experiences.
Materials / method: I will begin by recounting a dramatic incident during a neck lift procedure, where the patient experienced a peroperative cardiac arrest. This event prompted the administration of massive doses of anticoagulants. I will discuss the strategies employed to manage this situation effectively without further complications. Similarly, another case will be explored where a patient, also treated with anticoagulants during a neck lift, suffered a postoperative pulmonary embolism yet was managed successfully with no adverse outcomes. The discussion will then transition to the challenge of cervical skin
Results: The outcomes of these cases demonstrate that various technical interventions can effectively prevent or minimize sequelae. These experiences have underscored the importance of maintaining composure and responding with equanimity in the face of unforeseen complications. They have also highlighted the value of having a seasoned team well-versed in advanced surgical techniques. Furthermore, the presence of a robust network of colleagues, who regularly perform similar surgeries, has proven invaluable. This network has facilitated the sharing of experiences and strategies, thereby enr
Conclusion: In conclusion, the journey through handling neck complications in surgical settings has reinforced several critical lessons. The ability to prevent and minimize sequelae through technical prowess, combined with the importance of a composed and deliberate response during crises, cannot be overstated. Additionally, the support of an experienced team and a collaborative network of peers plays a pivotal role in enhancing patient outcomes. These experiences serve not only to improve individual skills but also contribute to the broader surgical community by sharing knowledge and refining practices.
