Objectives: Understanding melanogenesis the normal physiological processes
Knowing the pathophysiological aspects of melanogenesis
Different conditions that can arise due to melanogenesis pathophysiology
Introduction: Melanogenesis is a multifaceted process that occurs in both physiological and pathological conditions, triggered by intricate signaling cascades and various stimuli such as ultraviolet (UV) radiation, inflammation, hormonal fluctuations, and medications.Hypermelanosis refers to a pathological condition in which melanin levels increase, either due to a higher number of melanocytes in the epidermis or heightened melanin production.
Materials / method: NA
Results: NA
Conclusion: Several signaling pathways regulate melanocyte synthesis, differentiation, and survival. Thus hypermelanosis can be clinically and histologically classified into epidermal and dermal subtypes.
