Objectives: To examine the effectiveness of the combined therapy with a monopolar radiofrequency (RF) device and a direct bio-electrical muscle stimulation (EMS) device for body contouring in Asian patients.
Introduction: The popularity of non-surgical procedures for body sculpting is growing. Both fat reduction and muscle enhancement are important factors for body shaping, but their treatments are still considered emerging procedures in Asia-Pacific. We present results from thirty patients treated in our group using combination therapy for abdominal body sculpting protocol.
Materials / method: We conducted a prospective study from February 2020 to June 2020. We treated 23 women and 7 men, each of whom received one treatment for RF device for abdominal fat reduction and four treatments for EMS device for muscle enhancement 1 week apart. We evaluated the volume of fat and muscle using CT scans and ultrasonic examination devices. 3D cameras were taken at baseline and after each treatment.
Results: There was a significant outcome for both fat reduction and muscle enhancement. No adverse events were reported. The average satisfaction score of the subjects who received this combination treatment was higher than that of patients who received RF alone at the same time in our group.
Conclusion: The combination therapy with a RF machine and a EMS machine is a safe and effective treatment method for nonsurgical body contouring, which can lead business growth.
