TAFPRS has been established in October 2005 in Taipei. The Academy has proved to be extremely significant in sharing experiences and expanding the knowledge in the facial plastic and reconstructive surgery. The TAFPRS meetings have become important academic assemblies for the otorhinolaryngologists, plastic surgeons, ophthalmologists, and other specialists involving facial surgery from Asia Pacific regions.

Ligaments preservation and subperichondrial approach in Asian rhinoplasty

Objectives: Understand the nasal ligaments structure related to rhinoplasty
Understand the possible complications destroying the nasal ligaments after rhinoplasty
Understand the subperichondrial approach procedures
Maximizing the benefits of subperitonal approach combined with structural rhinoplasty in Asian rhinoplasty

Introduction: Subperichondrial dissection is one of the three main concepts in preservation rhinoplasty that has been widely promoted in recent years. It can help to maintain the original function of nasal ligaments anatomically, whether it’s applied on the rhinoplasty in caucasians or Asians. Proficiency in the technique of subperichondrial dissection will reduce the long-term complications after rhinoplasty.

Principal differences between Asian and Caucasian noses features and technical consequences for Rhinoplasties

Objectives: Identify principals differences between Asian noses and Caucasian noses in order to determine the main technical consequences.

Introduction: Noses features are globally different between Asian and Caucasian noses because of skin quality and bones and cartilges differences in shape, consistancy and size.
On top of these physical differences, most of the patient's concerns are also different : attitudes to beauty vary a lot around the world.
Because of this, this is especially interesting to analyse the daily procedures surgeons perform when they mostly operate Asian noses and those when they operate more Caucasian patients.

Complications of rhinoplasty

Objectives: 1. Complications of rhinoplasty can be considered as aesthetic, functional, or both.
2. Functional complications generally involve nasal obstruction after operation.
3. Aesthetic complications are more difficult to define.
4. Complications can be immediate problems or delayed deformities.
: Epistaxis, infection, septal hematoma
synechiae, flap necrosis,…
