Objectives: To understand the clinical presentations of possible nonvascular complications of mostly HA fillers, ways to prevent them, recognise them early and be able to treat them.
Introduction: Most of the discussion on complications of fillers center on vascular complications, as they are more drastic, although in terms of incidence non vascular complications are more common. It is important to be familiar with commonly encountered complications of mostly HA fillers, understand their causation, thereby be able to prevent most and treat the ones we encounter.
Materials / method: Non vascular complications can be classified according to timing of onset, or according to the nature of the complications – complications of placement, hypersensitivity and infections.
Complications will be discussed in detail, with illustrative cases encountered during practice , their etiology, course, clinical features , investigative modalities neede to diagnose, and possible treatment protocols and outcomes.
Results: It is easy to diagnose possible common complications of injectable fillers, provided one is familiar with them. With the exception of a few which are difficult to resolve, most case be easily treated.
Conclusion: As numbers of injectable procedures increases, so will we see an increase in number of complications. It will be a useful thing to know possible complications , ways to prevent them and also treat them.
