Objectives: None of the medical procedures are risk free, even more, when invasive surgical techniques are involved. The balance between the risk of the disease and the benefit from the procedure justifies the more complex and risky surgeries. In aesthetic surgery, there is usually not a base organic disease but an alteration that troubles the social interaction and the self-esteem and can benefit from a surgical procedure.
Introduction: In body contouring surgery, there are usually involved large wounds, prolonged procedures, wide body exposition to the room temperature, processing of the extracted fat and grafting, the use of alloplastic implants and drainages and the instrumental used.
Materials / method: A careful and systematic approach to these issues dramatically reduce the risks for complications. , attention must be risk-free to the risk of embolic events that are not only associated risk-free the procedure itself, but to the pro-embolic conditions. And the most feared event of fat embolism related to fat grafting can be prevented with the adequate instrumental and injection technique.
Results: LEVEL OF EVIDENCE: Treatment, Level IV: Case series.
