Objectives: 1. Recap of lipedema and its diagnosis in the arms
2. Approach to classification and management of lipedema in the arms
3. Optimizing outcomes by reviewing the use of emerging energy-based devices in the treatment of lipedema
Introduction: The classical doctrine in body contouring of the upper extremity usually prescribes a treatment area below the bicipital sulcus. We go beyond this boundary and demonstrate how the entire arm, up to the shoulder cap, can be treated and defined comprehensively without the need to artificially isolate muscle boundaries.
Materials / method: A review of the author's experience spanning 10 years in the treatment of hundreds of cases of arm lipedema will be presented.
Results: The approach described here is safe with excellent outcomes in terms of circumference reduction and skin quality improvement.
Conclusion: This approach is based on anatomical landmarks and safety. We will also discuss excellent adjuncts to improve skin tightening and definition.
