Objectives: Radiofrequency based procedures have been used both as combined in between each other, and/or furthermore, combined with different types of open surgery procedures. In addition to all possible combinations, those procedures could be used also after open surgery treatment, as for additional beneficial impact, as for maintenance of the final results.
Introduction: FaceTite and AccuTite are bipolar radiofrequency devices. The skin surface treatment temperature can be set up to 42°C (40 C is the recommended temperature) for optimal effect of the procedure. By means of an internal electrode, the heating of the subcutaneous fat deposits can be raised to 70°C, which results in the permanent destruction of fat cells in the treated area. The radiofrequency energy between the two transmitters stimulates collagenogenesis.
Morpheus8 is a minimally invasive skin rejuvenation procedure that uses microneedling energized with bipolar radiofrequency (RF).
Materials / method: Sharkov E. Body Contouring Surgery: The Role of Non-Invasive, Minimally-Invasive and Surgical Technologies. Springer Nature. 2013.
Results: Procedures have been done on patients of Vderm Clinic, Sofia, Bulgaria. The post op results have been presented as early but also as late post op results, including 1st and 2th post operative year. In some cases the outcomes could have been compared with the outcomes of surgical excisional procedures.
Conclusion: The surgeon’s assessment about whether the particular aesthetic problem is solvable with a non-invasive technology, minimally invasive technology, operative technology, or a combination of these technologies is of a big essence. Depending on the preoperative assessment, in many cases radiofrequency based procedures could have long lasting and similar to an open surgery procedure outcome.
