Objectives: There is no evidence-based, definitive guideline with sufficient scientific medical data on the efficacy and safety of dermal fillers in transplant patients. Studies focusing on aesthetic procedures in transplant patients are limited, and there is currently no research specifically addressing dermal fillers. This study is the first to compare dermal filler complications in transplant patients with those in the general population. The aim is to prospectively evaluate the safety and complications of hyaluronic acid dermal fillers in renal transplant patients.

Introduction: In recent years, the popularity of hyaluronic acid (HA) dermal fillers has increased among solid organ transplant patients, similar to trends in the general population. However, the safety and side effect profile of these procedures in this patient group remain largely unexplored. This gap in high-quality evidence raises concerns for both patients and healthcare providers, leading to hesitancy in performing these treatments. This study aims to investigate the safety and complications of HA dermal fillers in renal transplant recipients, providing insights for the literature.

Materials / method: A total of 52 patients, including 27 renal transplant patients and 25 healthy controls who applied to our cosmetic dermatology clinic for HA dermal filler injections, were included in this study. Each patient was administered 0.5 mL of cross-linked HA into the zygomatic arch region, resulting in a total bilateral volume of 1 mL. Patients were monitored for adverse events during the follow-ups in the first and sixth months.

Results: The healthy control group underwent more aesthetic procedures (p=0.001), especially botulinum toxin (p<0.001), than the transplant group. In the first month, four patients (three renal transplant recipients and one control) reported mild headaches (p=0.611). Two renal transplant patients experienced dysesthesia one month after injection. One patient had tenderness at the injection site four months later, resolving with nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. No further adverse events occurred at the six-month follow-up.

Conclusion: Transplant patients may experience short-term adverse events like bleeding, headache, dysesthesia, and hypersensitivity reactions, similar to those in the general population after filler injections. Six-month follow-up showed no significant difference in the frequency of filler-related adverse events between transplant patients and healthy individuals. The satisfaction rate with the filler procedure was high among renal transplant patients, comparable to healthy individuals. Our study suggests that HA dermal filler injections may be safe for renal transplant patients.

Objectives: Long thick and voluminous lashes add beauty to your eyes. It is considered to be of great aesthetic importance with ever increasing demand of Lash curling & lash extension procedures and a lot of cosmetics to enhance lash beauty. As Dermatologist we observe,these cosmetic procedures put the users under the risk of mechanical trauma,allergic reactions & infections. In this paper we will discuss how 0.03% topical Bimatoprost can naturally increase growth & thickness of lash with high safety for use around ophthalmic area & reduce the risks involved with other cosmetic procedures.

Introduction: Loss of lashes can occur due to physical trauma &mechanical trauma ,chemical damage due to dyeing or perming.Use of make-up &lash extensions/artificial lash application also causes lash loss. Skin diseses like blepharitis/seb derm./alopecia areata/psoriasis/ lupus/trichotillomania, some dietrary deficiencies, thyroid deficiency &menopause also play a role. To get better and beautiful lashes, women seek help from various product. Minoxidil 2% can potentially grow lashes but it is very irritant to skin around eyes. So to study the efficacy & safety of 0.03% bimatoprost is discussed here.

Materials / method: 45 females are included in the study aged between 25-45 years with no active dermatological disease around the lash area. They were not using any other pharmacological/ organic product known to cause lash growth. 0.03% topical Bimatoprost is used once daily with a clean sterile applicator along the upper lash line.A detailed video is shown how to apply the solution. before after pictures are taken at day 0, day 30,90 & 120 days.

Results: 40 females completed the study. The treatment was well tolerated with no serious side effect. Mild eye irritation was experienced by 4 subjects. It was appreciated that all 40 females were happy & satisfied with the product. All 40 females had longer, fuller and thicker lashes after completion of 120 days.With comparison of pictures, it was observed that lashes were 80 percent fuller, 12 percent longer & darker. Females did not need any make-up mascara to enhance the lash beauty & they all declined any further artificial lash extension. They all wanted to continue the treatment for future.

Conclusion: 0.03% Bimatoprost has promising results for fuller, thicker and longer lashes. It can come up as a popular treatment for lash aestetics. we need to guide the users properly to avoid any unnecessary hair growth around eyes due to spillage of drops. Over all it is a safe and effective treatment for all those who suffer from lash loss or thinning due to any dermatological/ medical condition or due to ageing or mechanical/chemical or physical damage.

Objectives: To evaluate the efficacy of using intralesional corticosteroid applied to the nail matrix in conjunction with total avulsion to decrease post-treatment onychodystrophy or recurrences of retronychia cases compared to standard surgical treatment.

Introduction: Retronychia occurs due to the ingrowth of the nail plate into the proximal nail fold. It is often suspected in cases of persistent paronychia, especially after trauma. This disorder is likely underdiagnosed due to low awareness among dermatologists and incomplete clinical presentations. Ultrasound can be a valuable tool in cases of diagnostic uncertainty. Nail plate avulsion remains the preferred diagnostic and curative method in chronic stages but post-surgical complications have been observed. Currently, there are no alternative treatments with better results.

Materials / method: A cohort study was conducted, analyzing the database of patients diagnosed with retronychia at a reference hospital in Santiago, Chile.
Group 1 (2021-2023) received total nail avulsion treatment for retronychia, and group 2 (2024) received avulsion plus corticosteroid injection into the nail matrix. Subsequent controls evaluated the presence of post-surgical onychodystrophy or recurrence between the two groups. Post-surgical outcomes, including onychodystrophy and recurrence, were compared between the two groups. Clinical, demographic, and complication data were analysed.

Results: Group 1 included 37 patients, and Group 2 16 patients. Average age in Group 1 was 29.8 years, and in Group 2 29.4 years. 25% of cases with previous nail trauma in Group 1 and 37.5% in Group 2. Ultrasound was used in 43.2% of Group 1 and 31.2% of Group 2. The nails affected were exclusively first toe in 86.4% of Group 1 and 87.5% of Group 2. Follow-up for Group 1 was effective in 94.5% of cases, with an average follow-up of 14.9 months. In Group 2, it was effective in 93.7%, with average follow-up of 13.3 months. Percentage of post-surgery nail alteration was 45.9% in Group 1 and 25% in group 2

Conclusion: This pilot study in Chile suggests that a combined treatment of nail avulsion and intralesional corticosteroid may be more effective in reducing post-surgical onychodystrophy and recurrences in patients with retronychia, compared to avulsion alone. Preliminary results are promising, indicating that the corticosteroid may help control underlying inflammation and improve long-term outcomes. However, larger, long-term studies are needed to confirm these findings and establish the long-term efficacy of this approach.

Objectives: To quantify the safety, tolerability and efficacy of jet injection of aminolevulinic acid (ALA) for photodynamic therapy (PDT) for basal cell carcinoma (BCC) treatment

Introduction: Photodynamic therapy (PDT) with topical δ-Aminolevulinic acid (ALA) has efficacy in treating basal cell carcinoma (BCC) but is limited by incomplete penetration of ALA into the deeper dermis. This prospective open-label pilot trial investigated the safety and efficacy of photosensitizer jet injection for PDT (JI-PDT) for BCC treatment. It was performed with 15 patients (n = 15) with histologically confirmed, untreated, low-risk nodular BCCs at a single institution.

Materials / method: (n = 11) received two sessions of jet-injected ALA with PDT separated by four to 6 weeks. (n = 4) received jet-injected ALA followed by tumor excision and fluorescence microscopy (JI-E). Treatment tolerability was assessed by local skin responses (LSR) score at five distinct time intervals. Fluorescence microscopy assessed protoporphyrin IX penetration depth and biodistribution within the tumor. At the primary endpoint, tumor clearance was evaluated via visual inspection, dermoscopy dermoscopy and reflectance confocal microscopy. Postinjection and postillumination pain levels were scored.

Results: Fifteen participants with mean age of 58.3, who were 15/15 White, non-Hispanic enrolled. The median composite LSR score immediately after JI-PDT was 5 (interquartile range [IQR] = 3) which decreased to 0.5 (IQR = 1) at primary endpoint (p < 0.01). Immunofluorescence of excised BCC tumors with jet-injected ALA showed photosensitizer penetration into papillary and reticular dermis. Of the 13 JI-PDT tumors, 11 had tumor clearance confirmed, 1 recurred, and 1 was lost to follow-up. 1/11 patients experienced a serious adverse event of cellulitis. 70% of patients had local scarring at 3 months.

Conclusion: Jet injection of ALA for PDT treatment of nodular low-risk BCC is tolerable and feasible and may represent a novel modality to improve PDT.

Objectives: The targeted diffusion and migration of the botulinum toxin A (BTX-A) formulations used have been repeatedly discussed as one of the factors that may influence the overall therapeutic outcome. Therefore, the diffusion characteristics of Letibotulinumtoxin A, the market leader in South Korea, were compared with other BTX formulations in a randomized, double-blind, intra-individual split-face comparison.

Introduction: Injection points for BotulinumtoxinA are close to muscles that should not be affected by side effects. Therefore, it is important to know the spread of BotulinumtoxinA formulations in order to precisely select the treatment. So far, data on the diffusion properties of letibotulinumtoxinA are lacking, but are essential for the adaptation of clinical protocols and injection points.

Materials / method: 30 subjects aged between 24-64 years with symmetric dynamic forehead lines and having not received any BotulinumtoxinA treatment in the last 6 months were enrolled. Patients were randomized to receive two of the three BTX-A formulations, with Letibotulinumtoxin A guaranteed. The frontal muscle was injected (intramuscular) with 4 U per injection point, 2 points per forehead side (4 U Leti/Ona or 10 U Abo). Diffusion characteristics were evaluated before and within 6 weeks (3 visits) using the iodine starch test. Standardized photos with VisioFace® 1000 D assessed the anhidrotic area.

Results: Of the total subjects, 27 successfully completed the observation period and showed a positive response to treatment with BotulinumtoxinA. Within 6 weeks, there was a significant difference in both patient satisfaction and anhidrotic areas with letibotulinumtoxinA compared to Ona and AbobotulinumtoxinA. LetibotulinumtoxinA showed a significantly smaller anhidrotic halo than the other serotypes.

Conclusion: The significant differences in the diffusion characteristics of various BotulinumtoxinA formulations should be considered, particularly when switching products. Selecting the appropriate formulation for each indication is important, as diffusion properties may influence therapeutic efficacy. Further studies are needed to explore the correlation between anhidrotic area and muscle relaxation for each area, as well as the impact of diffusion on the therapeutic index of different BotulinumtoxinA formulations.
