Dr. Patel is a graduate of Aston University in Birmingham, UK and SUNY College of Optometry in New York City. Dr. Patel completed a residency specializing in Ocular Disease at SUNY College of Optometry and Woodhull Medical and Mental Health Center where he received extensive training alongside prominent optometrists and ophthalmologists in the areas of primary care, specialty contact lenses, refractive surgery co-management, glaucoma diagnosis and treatment, and retinal disease. Dr. Patel is a founding partner of Eye Associates of New York and the Center for Ophthalmic and Vision Research in New York City. In his clinical practice, Dr. Patel works extensively with all varieties of contact lenses, including orthokeratology, scleral and gas permeable lenses, as part of the comprehensive management and co-management of keratoconus, severe dry eye, ocular surface disease, and irregular and post-surgical corneal conditions. Dr. Patel is highly trained and experienced in diagnosis and treatment of dry eye, utilizing the latest technologies such as Radio-Frequency, IPL and amniotic membranes. The Center for Ophthalmic and Vision Research conducts all manner of clinical trials and consulting for medical devices, pharmaceutical and contact lens research. Dr. Patel’s expertise and knowledge has had him serve as investigator on over 100 studies. His professional memberships include the NYSOA, where he is the Chair of the New Technologies Committee, the American Academy of Orthokeratology and Myopia Control and is a fellow of the American Academy of Optometry. Dr. Patel has presented to both optometry and ophthalmology across a wide range of eyecare topics. He is extremely passionate about providing exceptional care to all his patients focusing on the best outcomes for each of his patients’ needs.
