The menopausal patient: how aesthetic treatments can restore confidence and wellbeing
目标: Recognise the specific changes associated with perimenopause and menopause, including collagen loss, epidermal thinning, dehydration, volume depletion and loss of skin quality and understand their hormonal basis.
Identify the aesthetic treatments best suited to addressing menopausal skin changes, including energy-based devices, laser resurfacing, skin boosters, microneedling and biostimulators, and understand how to sequence and combine them effectively.
Appreciate the psychological impact of menopausal skin changes on patient confidence, identity and wellbeing.
介绍: Declining oestrogen levels during the perimenopausal and postmenopausal period drive a constellation of cutaneous
changes, accelerated collagen loss, epidermal thinning, increased skin laxity, dryness, impaired wound healing and heightened susceptibility to
photodamage that compound the visible signs of chronological ageing and frequently present as a source of significant distress.
This presentation presents a perspective on the menopausal patient in aesthetic practice.
材料 / 方法: CASE STUDY JH, Perimenopausal PatientPresentation at age 50
JH presented at age 50 during the early perimenopausal transition. She described feeling unlike herself ,her skin felt dry, dehydrated and dull,
and she had noticed a progressive loss of volume, radiance and elasticity that she found difficult to reconcile with how she felt on the inside. She
was not seeking a dramatic change. She wanted to feel like herself again.Clinically, she presented with dehydrated, lacklustre skin with reduced
elasticity and early volume depletion. Skin tone was uneven, texture was compromised .
结果: Outcome at age 54
At four-year review, JH presents with visibly improved skin in every dimension assessed at baseline. Texture is smooth and refined. Tone is even,
bright and consistent. Elasticity and suppleness are markedly improved. She looks well-rested, luminous and by every clinical and patientreported measure younger and more vital at 54 than she did at 50.( Before & After for reference)
