Objectives: Advances in healthcare technology and augmented intelligence have the potential to improve clinical efficiency, diagnostic accuracy, access to care, and patient outcomes in the field of dermatology. However, a variety of barriers can limit who benefits from new technologies, which may actually worsen healthcare disparities for marginalized groups. This presentation will emphasize how patient portals, imaging devices, teledermatology platforms, image libraries, and AI algorithms should be developed and deployed with a diverse patient population in mind to avoid deepening the digital divide.
