Objectives: Explore whether better and safer outcomes are achieved by choosing the "correct" injecting tool
Introduction: There is much debate between experienced injectors regarding the correct choice of injecting tools.
Questions arise such as:
Is a cannula superior to a needle?
What size syringe should be used?
Is an automated-powered injecting device superior to manual delivered injecting?
What gauge of cannula or needle is optimal?
Materials / method: The concept of a "correct" injecting tool is explored through personal experience, the published literature and photographic/video examples.
Results: In many circumstances the "correct" injecting toll is predicated on 3 important factors.
The injector's sound appreciation of:
aesthetics, anatomy and filler rheology.
Conclusion: The correct tool is in fact the one where these 3 factors can best be achieved in the repertoire of the injector's knowledge and experience.
