Objectives: The objective of this study was to establish the effectiveness and safety of a new formula of chemical peel, administrated in a single session in the vulvar and perineal area, for bleaching.
Introduction: Vulvar melanosis represents a frequent complain in our daylily practice.
Materials / method: Thirty-five patients, with vulvar and/or perineal hyperpigmentation, were recruited for this trial. They were treated with one single session with a new combination of chemical peel. The treatment consisted of: firstly, application of the peeling and neutralization after 7 minutes, secondly, application of the depigmenting mask in a multilayer manner and covered with a special occlusive film. Lastly, two hours after being using the mask, the patients removed the occlusive film and the intimate mask at home with water. Two days after, the patients started using the depigmenting cream at bedtime
Results: A significant reduction of the pigment in the skin of the treated area was observed in all patients, post-treatment. In addition, significant improvement in the glow and tightness of the skin was observed too. Likert scale examination showed that all treated patients were satisfied with the final outcome achieved.
Conclusion: Our results show that the use of this new formula of intimate chemical peel, successfully reduced the pigment and improved the quality of the skin in the treated area, achieving an optimal vulvar and perineal bleaching.
