Objectives: The efficacy of individualized acne scar treatment using one modalities or combination in different presentation of morphological features of each patient's scars and following the optimal results achieved over the course of several months.
Introduction: Acne scarring is a severe cosmetic concern for many adolescents as well as adults . Acne Scars are the most distressing sequelae of acne vulgaris, having a major impact on the psychosocial aspect and quality of life.It Is a therapeutic challenge as many treatments may be only partially effective, leading to patient disappointment and frustration.
Materials / method: We observed the treatments available for acne scaring including the use of dermabrasion, chemical peeling, microneedling, radiofrequency, lasers and surgical procedures or in combination and the results achieved with one modalities or in combination.
Results: Treating scars with ablative laser or surgical procedures that open wounds require longer recovery times. Lasers fractional and non-fractional are useful in treating various types of scars, however important issue should be addressed before initiating treatment as setting realistic expectation regarding outcome.
Conclusion: Each modality can possess benefits and adverse effect, which should take in consideration for each individualized patient treatment plan. In polymorphous acne scar the combination treatment is necessary to achieve better result. Patients should be aware that’s scars can’t be remove completely.
