Objectives: To demonstrate method of execution of the large surgical defect on nose area after Mohs micrographic surgery.
Introduction: Nose defects are challenging to reconstruct. This presentation will address on the utility and versatility of island pedicle flaps corresponding to each nasal subunit defects.
Materials / method: This was a case series of the patients who underwent Mohs micrographic surgery and nasal reconstruction utilizing island pedicle flap.
Results: This presentation will demonstrate the outcome and technique of performing one-stage shark island pedicle flap in comparative to two-staged procedures using interpolated flaps from the cheek or forehead on large nose defect. One-stage shark otherwise, limit time-consuming for second operation, diminish disfigurement among the surgeries and lessen an unintended loss of alar sulcus and which could be noticed on transposition flap to repair alar.
Conclusion: The island pedicle flaps is a useful method to reconstruct nose defects in various anatomical subunits. It provides robust blood supply, flexible movement, easy to modify and produces acceptable results even crossing the cosmetic border.
