Objectives: Background: Face imperfections such as ptosis of the eyebrows and prominent forehead may be found both in young adults, due to a familial characteristic, and in elderly people as a sign of ageing. Introduction: Objective: Describing the main brow lift approaches and their applications in differently featured patients according to the senior author’s experience in a selected population
Materials / method: Methods: Several brow lift techniques have been proposed over years. Our surgical open approaches, start from an accurate clinical evaluation, supported by a meticulous photographic documentation: static and dynamic phases; relation to osteo-muscular structure; eyebrow – hairline distance. 75 cases are herein presented: 40 patients were addressed to the direct brow lift; 8 to midforehead brow lift and 12 to pretrichial hairline lift.
Results: Results: All the patients showed final pleasant results. Scars, inevitable outcome of any surgical procedures, result pathological in 2 cases, necessitating a “touch-up” to ameliorate the aesthetic appearance.
Conclusion: Conclusion: Effective correction of brow ptosis passes through a correct clinical evaluation. Among surgical solutions , open approaches, preferable in selected cases, are still to be considered effective, safe and easily repeatable ..
