Objectives: To give a brief discussion of how I manage Asian skin before and after the procedures, basing on my experience and evidence.
Introduction: Aesthetic procedures have become very popular in Asians. There are some special concerns for the care of Asian skin before and after the procedures, including of different skin color, different climate and patients' behaviors.
Materials / method: I reviewed the published materials for the treatments of Asian skin pre- and post- aesthetic procedures.
Results: As my suggestion, hydroquinone and tranexamic acid has little or no effect for the prevention of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation as pre-treatment. Moisturizer is important for all kinds of energy-based device treatment. The medicine used for laser assisted drug delivery depend on its molecular weight and water-solubility. Besides, the cosmeceuticals for Asian skin should consider the difference of climate and consumer's behavior.
Conclusion: Pre-treatment and Post-treatment of aesthetic procedures are both important to improve the result. However, there is a need for more evidence to support the daily routine we followed.
