Objectives: 1. To discover the value of using echography in determining facial anatomy.
2. To better understand echography images and cine
3. To better understand facial anatomy
4. To better understand vascular anatomy of face
Introduction: Echography is used throughout medical specialties but only recently has been more widely adopted by aesthetic physicians. Dr. Leonie Schelke started using ultrasound about 12 years ago to treat filler complication in her Erasmus Clinic. Ultrasound can be used to evaluate real-time anatomy, perform vascular mapping and diagnose and treat filler complications.
Materials / method: The following anatomic structures are shown using echography images and cine:
a. Temples
b. Periocular
c. Infraorbital
d. Zygomaticofacial
e. Pyriform
f. NLF
g. Transverse Facial Art
h. Nose
i. Chin
j. Superior Labial Art
k. Inferior Labial Art
Results: N/A
Conclusion: Echography can improve knowledge of a patient's anatomy, particularly vascular anatomy. It is a useful adjunct to prevent filler complications and to more accurately place filler.
