Objectives: The aim of the study is to evaluate the efficiency of intracavernous APRP injection in treatment of erectile dysfunction
Introduction: in recent years there was a significant interest in regenerative medicine technologydue to the high effectiveness with a good safety and low cost.currently autologous platelet rich plasma has been used successfully in various fields of medicine (surgery, traumatologia & orthopaedics, sport medicine cosmetics). However until now they have been no studies consistent with evidence-based medicine verifying the effectiveness&long term results of APRP application for erectile dysfunction treatment.
Materials / method: the study has been lead on 35 patients aged between 42 & 78 years with erectile dysfunction. Clinical & hormonal evaluation have been performed before the treatment. Total volume injected was 12 ml of pure APRP. 5 sessons in total have been performed , the first 3 every 2 weeks , the fourth after 2 months and then 1 session after 6 months.
Results: the results were very encouraging : 32 patients on 35 (91.4%) had a good response to the treatment. Post-procedural minor adverse events were seen in 5 men, consisting of a mild pain at injection site & mild penile bruising. no patients experienced complications at follow-up
Conclusion: intracavernous autologous rich plasma appears to be a safe & efficient treatment for the eretile dysfunction
