Objectives: 1. Present a brief history of regenerative medicine
2. Introduce a concept of dynamic facial age management
3. Discuss Nanofat, Stromal Vascular Fraction and introduce Exosomes
Introduction: Regenerative medicine was kickstarted in the early 2000's with the findings of stem cells and regenerative cells in fat. The promise of regenerative medicine has been to utilize the body's own repair mechanisms and the cells involved as therapies for numerous types of injuries and acquired disorders. Herein, I will outline a brief history of adipose derived stem and regenerative cells, the development of a proven technique of regenerative facial fat grafting and introduce the use of exosomes, which may turn out to be the most powerful biologic we have available to date.
Materials / method: The history of regenerative medicine will be briefly covered and an example of how regenerative medicine and exosomes can be applied in facial aesthetics will be discussed.
Results: Current prospective data on outcomes combining regenerative strategies with lasers and surgery will be presented as case examples of regenerative facial surgery.
Conclusion: New concepts in regenerative medicine have progressed to standardized treatment regimens that can be used as a template for new advances. Exosome therapies may ultimately represent the future of the regenerative medical field.
