3. State the importance of clinician led innovation in healthcare

Introduction: To identify and solve unmet needs and bring new therapies to patients, clinicians at all levels must engage in innovation. The Magic Wand Initiative, a program based at Massachusetts General Hospital--Wellman Center for Photomedicine, created a 10-month course called the Virtual Magic Wand (VMW) program with a curriculum that teaches the biomedical innovation pathway to dermatologists and engages them in innovation.

Conclusion: We have initiated the European VMW program to engage, educate and empower European dermatologists to innovate. VMW program encourages innovation by creating a network of like-minded individuals, teaching the innovation process, and empowering physicians to think of themselves as innovators.

Objectives: In this lecture the attendee will gain information about:
- What is innovation and how is it implemented as a sustainable solution
- Digital technologies in dermatology
- Medical devices in health
- Digital Biomarkers and the sugested use in dermatology

Introduction: Often a solution to a problem is not investigating the problem sufficiently enough in order to gain success. Reframing as a measure will be discussed throughout the lecture.

Materials / method: Published literature and cases will be mentioned.

Results: We have shown that digital solutions (Breitbart et al. 2020) and digital biomarkers (Eiken et al. 2021) can improve outcomes of care for patients.

Conclusion: Digital innovation is fostring improved care in the ecosystem of dermatology.

Objectives: This discussion centers around the process by which the Magic Wand Initiative fueled the creation of VeraDermics Inc., a pre-clinical stage dermatology-focused pharmaceutical company. Key lessons in starting VeraDermics Inc. will be discussed by its co-founders, Dr. Tim Durso and Dr. Reid Waldman.
