Capsular contracture: science and myths

Objectives: review and analyse of the recently published articles concerning capsular contracture should give us facts concerning capsular contracture

Introduction: review and analyse of literature concerning capsular contracture

Materials / method: Published studies are analysed , concerning influencing factors of evolution of capsular contracture after breast implants surgery : infection, influence of implant envelope ( tectured, smooth) , positon of the implant ( subglandular, subfacial, dual plane, submuscular,) , incision ( areola, submammary fold, axillar), genetique factors etc.

Results: This review and analyse permits to demystify some myths concerning probable factors influencing the development of capsular contracture.

Conclusion: Capsular contracture is a multifactoriel caused complication after breast implant surgery with an higher incidence than often believed . Some guidelines can help to control this risq.
