Objectives: Using botulinum toxin to show results in non-usual aesthetics indications.
Introduction: Botulinum Toxin is more often used for aesthetics means specially in blocking dinamic wrinkles. More recently same new indications for its use have been being studied and have been getting scientific approval. Our goal is to show results in using botulinum toxin in more frequently seen diseases at dermatologist´s offices.
Materials / method: Four different patiensts with rosacea, dilated pores, melasma were followed for six months to prove botulinum toxin efficiency in these situations.
We used onabotulinumtoxinA diluted in a dose of 1U to plus 4U of physiological serum. Intradermic applied in 0,5cm apart. Only one session done.
The applications were done in visually affected areas only.
Results: All patients got an improvement in the dilated pores, decreasing erythema, led by rosacea and melasma whitening specially in patients with predominant vascular component.
We couldn´t prove efficiency in alopecia patients.
Conclusion: Botulinum toxin is efficient and can improve the skin quality in patients with rosacea, dilated pores and melasma.
