Objectives: Observed the efficacy and safety of long pulsed 1064 nm Nd:YAG laser in the treatment of onychomycosis
Introduction: Onychomycosis is an infection caused by various fungi in the nails or under the nails tissue. The clinical feature is that the diseased nail loses its luster, turns gray, yellow,becomes thicker, deforms and brittle. Sometimes the nails are separated from the nail bed.
Materials / method: The patient was treated by the long pulsed 1064 nm Nd:YAG Laser,Infected nails were treated once a week,a total of 6 times. In addition, Itraconazole is for oral administration.
Results: 2 weeks after laser surgery, the nail improved. After 6 weeks of laser treatment, the white spots on nail decreased by more than 70%. Follow-up for 3-6 months showed without relapses. The effect was satisfactory.
Conclusion: Treament of Onychomycosis with the long pulsed 1064 nm Nd:YAG Laser has the qualities of quick, an remarkable action and fewer side effect. This method has important clinical application value.
