Objectives: Developing and implementing a “safe fillers injection checklist” to integrate teams, remind problems, avoid dangers, reduce errors, and improve performance.
Introduction: Fillers injection is a common procedure in aesthetic medicine. It is generally considered safe, but it can cause serious complications, including cerebral vascular accident, loss of vision, and skin necrosis. Some strategies have been developed for reducing the risk of complication during the filler injection, such as knowledge of facial anatomy and imaging device guided injection technique. However, practitioner should be alert to not only the skill of filler injection, but also the pre-and-post-therapeutic evaluation to avoid negligence and complications.
Materials / method: Modified the surgical safety checklist of the 2009 version of WHO to a novel version of safe fillers injection checklist.
Results: According to the principles of safe injection, we created a concise mind map with acronymic CARES to easily memorize them, focused recapitulate the key points, and quickly remind the critical steps
Conclusion: With the assistance of checklist, we can perform fillers injection carefully step by step and minimize the risk of negligence and increase the safety of the procedure.
