Objectives: This lecture will look at recent advances and innovations as well as the future of dermatology and cosmetic dermatology.

Introduction: The rapid advancements in science and technology have begun to influence the practice of medicine in ways previously thought impossible as little as a decade ago.

Materials / method: Discussion about a few recent technological advancements or scientific discoveries and how they are impacting the field now, and how these advances or subsequent developments may significantly or even radically alter the field of dermatology over the next few decades.

Results: N/A

Conclusion: Scientific advancements in the areas of bioelectronics, genetics and other fields are laying solid foundations for treatment protocols for diseases, surgical techniques and biomonitoring that will only advance exponentially over the next decade. It is highly possible that the practice of dermatology or cosmetic dermatology in 30 years will have evolved to a new era of individualized medicine.
