Introduction: The lip is a focal point of the face and plays a vital role in expressing beauty, youth and sexuality. The beauty standard is evolving due to changing global, cultural and social influences. Predictable age related changes occur in this region and are readily addressed by non-surgical cosmetic treatment. A higher degree of aesthetic expertise is required in this delicate region that combines a personalized assessment of needs and goals and an approach that differentiates enhancement from rejuvenation. A 7x7 approach to the lip/perioral region can allow masterful beautification.
Materials / method: The presentation will include visual images, diagrams, measurements, and before/after images to provide a roadmap to assess and treat the lip and perioral region. The current global beauty standard will be presented. Age related changes will be reviewed. a 7 feature assessment plan will be described evaluating; commissures, cupid's bow, tuburcles, pout, vermillion border, philltrim column and ptosis. A 7-step treatment plan will be reviewed considering; shape, symmetry, volume, internal proportion, external proportion, corners, and texture. Enhancement will be differentiated from rejuvenation.
Results: Expert aesthetic technique and a comprehensive approach are required to masterfully treat the lip/perioral region.
