Objectives: To know which symptoms of rosacea can be successfully treated with lasers and light sources and which ones should be preferred

Introduction: Rosacea is a common condition in patients of Fitzpatrick’s skin type I and II
therapies have to be chosen according to the symptoms and severity. The main signs are
redness with teleangiectasia, papules and pustules, phymatous proliferation and thickening esp an the nose and ocular symptoms , mainly conjunctivitis.
Only the redness and dilated vessels and partly thepapules and inflammation can be treated with lasers, for all other symptoms topical and sxystemic medication is needed.

Materials / method: In a double blinded, split face randomized control trial diffuse facial erythema was treated with nonpurpuragenic 595-nm PDL or microsecond 1064-nm Nd:Yag laser. Both lasers were found to be efficacious, though PDL may be more effective and Nd:yag was less painful.
In another split-face comparative study (n=15), 595-nm PDL and a pulsed 532-nm KTP laser were effective in the treatment of facial telangiectasia and redness.
Long-pulsed Nd:YAG as well as PDL are effective in rosacea-associated nasal telangiectasia, but should be used carefully to avoid side effects. Flashlamp PDL is better in term

Results: Despite numerous publications on successful treatment with vascular lasers and the reduction of inflammation after pulsed dye laser and IPL, still laser and light sources are not able to achieve a complete or permanent cure.

Conclusion: So the main indication of lasers and light sources can be seen in rosacea with significant erythema andteleangiectasia as a first and second line treatment and for patients who do not response sufficiently on classic medication as a second line treatment to improve the overall outcome.

Muchas investigaciones han demostrado numerosos neurotransmisores involucrados en la fisiopatogenia de la rosácea y su posible explicación en la estrecha interrelación entre la piel y sistema nervioso central (2).

Introduction: Non laser intense pulsed light IPL (540–950 nm) is safe and effective for the treatment of a vascular form of rosacea (5). A pesar que tanto la BoNT y la IPL han demostrado que son alternativas seguras y efectivas para tratar la rosacea no existen reportes que demuestren el impacto que puede tener la combinación de ambas alternativas terapéuticas al ser practicadas simuladamente en los pacientes con rosácea erythemato telangiectatic. 

Materials / method: This study was conducted to investigate the efficacy and safety del uso de intense pulsed light IPL y BoNT A in patients who had erythemato telangiectatic rosacea. Es un descriptive study of transverse cut de una Sample of convenience selected from patients diagnosed with rosacea managed in the practice of each of the researchers. Patients excluded if they had been treated with topical or oral treatment for other facial skin diseases, including rosacea, in the previous 4 weeks. Pilot study which will recruit patients with diagnosis of erythemato telangiectatic rosacea. BoNT-A (Dysport®) 2.5 U

Objectives: To provide an overview of evidence based treatments for rosacea based on the phenotype approach.

Introduction: From 2017 there is a transition in diagnosis, classification and management from a subtype to a phenotype approach to optimize patient outcomes and improve general well-being by targeting those features most bothersome to the patient.

Materials / method: We conducted a systematic review on interventions for rosacea based on the phenotype approach and rated the certainty of evidence per outcome with GRADE.

Results: During the presentation I will discuss evidence based rosacea treatments per phenotype (persistent erythema, telangiectasia, transient erythema, inflammatory lesions, phyma and ocular rosacea) as well as maintenance treatment.
