Over twenty years of small molecule drug discovery experience (five-year with Viva Biotech, two-year with AstraZeneca, 8 years with Pfizer Inc. and 3 years with OSI Pharmaceuticals) and an additional 8 years of academic research experience post PhD. Excellent molecular and cell biology knowledge in nuclear hormone receptors, signal transduction, immunology and inflammation pathways. Strong expertise in reproductive biology, extracellular matrix remodeling, cancer biology and autoimmune/inflammatory diseases. Expert in skin biology and diseases with drug discovery experiences in lipid synthesis, pigmentation, photoaging and hair growth. Strong knowledge in topical drug discovery and development with proven record of success. Experienced drug discovery scientist with leadership roles and skills in directing early to late stage projects and supervising lab personnel. Led multiple drug discovery projects from idea to finding novel drug candidates. These drug candidates have been advanced to human clinical trials during the years at AstraZeneca and Pfizer drug discovery (Drug candidates not disclosed due to company confidentiality). Led therapeutic area team in exploratory new target evaluation and new project initiation. Over the years, I have led multiple projects to the clinics. For example, I led two late stage oncology projects in translational science research at AstraZeneca. One of the projects has now been advanced to FIH for gastric cancer. In addition, I also led a project in a clinical COPD epidemiology study for the purpose of phenotyping the disease by biomarkers and disease risk factors (in collaboration with Dr. Zhong Nanshan, CAS member, Guangzhou No 1 Hospital). Active participation in due diligence for external licensing evaluation, acquisition and managing external collaboration. Proven records with publications in top-quality journals such as Nature, Nature Medicine, and New England Journal of Medicine, JCI, JID (Author or co- author) during my academic research years.
