Kwezi has a PhD in Trichology & Cosmetic Science from the University of Cape Town, a BSc Honours and an MSc from the Nelson Mandela University in Port Elizabeth, South Africa. She joined the Division of Research & Innovation at L'Oréal South Africa in October 2017 as Clinical and Instrumental Evaluation Researcher. Her doctoral research holistically characterised human scalp hair using a multi-pronged approach in order to establish the baseline attributes of “normal hair”. She is currently the manager for scientific communication and medical directorate for emerging markets and is based at our L'Oréal India hub in Mumbai.

Before joining L'Oréal, Kwezi worked in the Hair & Skin Research Group at the University of Cape Town, South Africa. During her PhD, Kwezi worked on the characterization of scalp hair beyond race using biochemical, physiological, and mechanical characterization. The findings of this work have relevance in the fields of medicine, cosmetic and forensic sciences. Her post-doctoral research focused on investigating the reliability of scalp hair and Fourier Transform Infrared Microscopy as alterative approach for breast cancer screening. At L'Oréal she is responsible for re-enforcing our scientific impact in emerging markets through publications, collaborative research studies with the scientific and medical communities as well empowerment of hairstylists and beauticians.
