Objectives: Evaluating the effectiveness and safety of hair re-growth factor formulation at multiple centres for reduction of hair fall and regrowth of hair.
Introduction: Alopecia is seen in individuals, as young as 20 years of age and progresses in almost 50% of men over 50 years of age and around 50% of women over their lifetime. Current surgical, medical, and aesthetic approaches remain constrained in implementation and effectiveness along with an array of side effects. a bioengineered hair regrowth formulation containing a particular combination of biomimetic growth factors was administered in clinically diagnosed conditions of Androgenetic Alopecia, Alopecia Areata, PCOS-related hair loss, and post-COVID hair loss.
Materials / method: Patients were administered 1 ml of the solution of these growth factors on the scalp through appropriate micro-needling methods. The sessions were spaced out at 3 to 4 weeks and a minimum of 8 sessions of the solution were given to the patients. A hair pull test, global photographic assessment, and video-microscopic assessment tests were performed at the beginning, after the fourth and eighth sessions, and self-assessment through a questionnaire related to satisfaction and side effects was carried out at the beginning and at after the eighth session.
Results: After eight sessions, the hair pull test was positive in only 1/10th of the patients. Beneficial results were noted in the global assessment score after the fourth and the eighth session. After the eighth session, a huge improvement was noted in terminal hair count, vellus hair count, and hair density. Also, with a self-assessment score, a higher satisfaction score was noted. On long-term follow-up as well, no side effects were observed.
Conclusion: The use of the biomimetic peptide formulation is a safe and efficacious option for all forms of Alopecia.
