Objectives: To show the importance of lasers in medicine and in Functional, Regenerative and Aesthetic Gynecology.
Introduction: Gynecologist pioneered the use of laser in medicine along with dermatologists. The first report of gynecology and laser dates back to 1972. In 2011 when lasers were not being used in our specialty, the concept of regenerative therapies with laser light emerged and this was a real back to the future.
Materials / method: The most commonly used laser light wavelengths are described, analyzing in detail their action mechanism of action and the evidence to date.
Results: The results of the publications found are encouraging demonstrating above all safety and efficacies in improving the quality of life of patients.
Conclusion: There is still a lack of randomized prospective controlled trials, with greater follow-up and number of patients so that finally these therapies are widely accepted by the global medical community.
