Objectives: To look into the efficacy of polynucleotides in Asian skin types. Asian skin tends to have thinner epidermis and more prone to trans-epidermal water loss (TEWL) upon mechanical challenge. We look into the changes of skin quality after the PN injection.
Introduction: As the most voluminous organ of the body, the skin significantly influences perception of age, attractiveness, health and youth. Skin quality can be described by four elements: skin tone evenness, skin surface evenness, skin firmness and skin glow. Polynucleotides is an increasing common treatment for skin rejuvenation. In vitro studies has shown its trophic stimulus to cell vitality, formation of new extracellular matrix and reparative stimulus to damaged tissues. It promotes fibroblasts activities, restores firmness, and increase hydration, elasticity and brightness of the skin.
Materials / method: We follow up with the clinical outcomes of the PN injection up to 6 months post injection.
Results: We concluded that PN does improve skin quality in 4 quadrants after injection.
Conclusion: Polynucleotides are good modality for skin quality changes especially for asian patients.
