Objectives: Acne related scar processes should be addressed from two different prospectives: conventional surgical/laser procedures and a multi-step global approach to improve the overall condition of the patient's skin.

Introduction: Acne-related scarring processes may lead to permanent textural irregularities of affected skin regions often associated with variable degrees of psychosocial discomfort. Low dose isotretinoin oral treatment has revolutionized the medical approach modern dermatologists have towards this commonly encountered skin problem preventing to some extent scarring evolution when started earlier during the course of the disease.

Materials / method: When established, acne scars constitute a persisting disturbance of the cosmetic and aesthetic equilibrium of affected anatomical regions. Dermatologists tried to classify acne scars in different categories, each with its specific clinical, structural, and evolutive characteristics but, even if useful from the academic point of view, these classifications find moderate use in clinical practice.

Results: Many different scars, each with its specific characteristics, are present within relatively small anatomical areas and a global corrective approach, aiming at reaching a keen compromise between specific scar treatments and overall cosmetic improvement usually provide the best treatment strategy. Pathologic scar evolution such as hypo- and hyper-trophic or frankly keloid scars need to be treated appropriately. Once macroscopic scar alterations have been properly addressed, a personalized multi-step global improvement approach should be implemented.

Conclusion: Combinations of conventional surgical procedures and laser/EBD-assisted treatments offer a good and effective platform on which Dermatologists can build their specific “improvement recipes” adding chemical peels, PDT, and advanced topical treatments. Low dose oral isotretinoin has shown to be safe even planning invasive laser/EBD-assisted procedures contributing to effectively prevent possible post-operative acne flares.

Objectives: Hypertrophic scars are at times painful, pruritic, and disfiguring and can have a negative effect on the patient’s quality of life. A variety of new treatment options have recently become available and in this presentation we will explore some of these new therapeutic advances along with how we utilize some of the long-standing therapies in combination with these newer therapies. We can change “lives” with our therapeutic options for these lesions and we have the tools at our disposal to do so.

Introduction: Hypertrophic scars are seen regularly in our dermatology clinics. Patients present with often disfiguring lesions, some of which are painful and pruritic in nature.

Materials / method: Through evidenced-based medicine and our personal experience in using various modalities, we can successfully treat these conditions. A literature review will be used to describe the current state of how best to treat these conditions.

Results: Improvement in the appearance as well as the associated signs and symptoms of hypertrophic scars shows that we can successfully treat these skin concerns.

Conclusion: Hypertrophic scars are commonly seen, often resulting in pain, pruritus, and disfigurement. Our current therapeutic modalities can successfully treat these conditions.

Objectives: Efficacy and safety evaluation of a novel treatment of acne scarring using a multimodal approach comprising Dermabrasion or oxegeneo , subcision in rolling scars with microthreads network support , electronically controlled noninsulated RF microneedling system, PRP , and dermapin with hyaluronic acid highly concentrated solution , and light therapy on acne scars in patients with dark skin managing the atrophic acne scars among a sample of UAE patients

Introduction: Acne is a common multifactorial condition. Many of those with acne are left with scarring. Understanding the pathogenesis of acne and types of acne scars is essential to optimize the management. Since there is no single ideal procedure, various techniques are used in combination Acne scars require different technical approaches, especially in subjects with dark skin. There are numerous treatments: chemical peels, dermabrasion ,microdermabrasion, laser treatment, punch techniques, needling and combined therapies for atrophic scars, PRP ,intralesional steroid therapy, cryotherapy, cryotherapy,et

Materials / method: Thirty eight patients, 22 to 53 years old, skin types III to V, with acne scars and willing to participate are assessed and treated by multimodal approach Dermabrasion , subcision in rolling scars with microthreads network support , electronically controlled noninsulated RF microneedling system, and PRP. A different number of sessions of therapy used, and patients followed for three months after the last visit evaluation . Each patient had from 1 -3 treatment sessions at monthly intervals. Efficacy was evaluated by the Goodman and Barron’s Global Qualitative Acne Scarring System

Results: Post-treatment erythema was observed immediately after the treatment and lasted up to 24 hours after the treatment. Improvement of at least 1 acne scar grade was noted in 35 patients (92 %) 35 of 38 patients (92 %) after 1 month and continues improvement in acne scar grading with the repeated sessions maximum of 3 sessions with satisfaction high rate of all patients (100%) 38 of 38 compared by their previous treatment modality in the past .

Conclusion: The combination of a multimodal comprising Dermabrasion , subcision in rolling scars, electronically controlled noninsulated RF microneedling , PRP, and dermapin with HA , and light therapy on acne scars in patients with dark skin among a sample of UAE patients appears to be effective and safe for the treatment of acne scars in skin types III to V from the first session. There was a direct relationship between the number of sessions and the response to therapy. Randomized, controlled clinical trials with larger patient numbers are needed to support these multimodality approach.
