Objectives: Glabellar wrinkle correction, temple augmentation, nasolabial fold correction, nose augmentation are common location for hyaluronic acid filler injection

Introduction: The aim of this study was to use doppler ultrasound to determine anatomical relation between wrinkles and supratrochlear, dorsal nasal, superficial temporal and facial artery to perform safe injection

Materials / method: Hyaluronic acid filler was injected at glabellar wrinkle, temple, nasolabial fold and nose. A 2-dimensional Doppler ultrasound device (E-cube 15ex; Alpinion Co, Anyang, South Korea), offering a real-time color Doppler mode with a high-frequency (8-17 MHz) hockey-stick probe (I08-17; Alpinion), was used to identify the course and location of the supratrochlear artery, supraorbital artery, superficial temporal artery, dorsal nasal artery and facial artery

Results: No adverse effect were found

Conclusion: When perform hyaluronic acid filler injection, it is safe to use doppler ultrasound before injection

Objectives: Ultrasonography is very useful to identify masseter muscle and surrounding structures for masseter reduction with botulinum toxin. And besides ultrasonography guided injection is much more precise and safe than blind injection. I would like to share my clinical experiences, and to provide a new insight for masseter injection for safe and effective result with ultrasonography.

Introduction: Ultrasonography has been widely used in medical field, especially internal medicine, gynecology, and lately orthopedic medicine. However lately, ultrasonography has started to use in aesthetic medicine because most of aesthetic procedures are performed blindly, so there have been a lot of demands for precise and safe injections. Among aesthetic procedures, Botulinum toxin injection to masseter muscle is one of the most common procedures in Asia, but still it is performed blindly because masseter muscle is touchable by hand.

Materials / method: Ultrasonography is used for masseter and parotid gland botulinum toxin injection. Split test of ultrasonography guided injection and blind injection demonstrates differences.

Results: Ultrasonography is very useful to identify masseter muscle and parotid gland. And guided injection is more safe and effective than blind injection.

Conclusion: Ultrasonography guided botulinum toxin injection is precise and safe.
